Q. Do you have any particular tips or tricks that you find valuable to pass on to your fellow Maxers ?
A. That would require a specific problem or question. And if you are lucky, I might not yet have forgotten how I have solved it once or what the work-around might have been. But PLEASE: don't mail me :-) Ask your questions on a forum, so that you get as many opinions as possible, which always helps the most.
Typically you forget so much, because you rarely have the exact same problem twice. And since our brain follows the principle of "use it or lose it", it doesn't even take much alcohol to forget the bulk of your entire CG knowledge in a matter of weeks, which makes our job a constant learning process - learning even of things you already knew once.
So yeah, if I had ONE tip, then it would be to always think analytically and logically and maybe not rely too much on your "nerd knowledge" alone, but on common sense and the physics class you've once attended at school.

Q. Are you still involved in testing for tools like FinalRender and can you tell us anything about what we can expect in the future from these kind of tools ?

A. Yes, I think I am. I haven't been actively testing it in weeks, though. But since I have been with their betateam for more than 4 years now, I hope that Edwin Braun did not kick me out yet. ;-)
And no, as a betatester I'm bound to a so-called "Non Disclosure Agreement", so of course I cannot tell anything with regards to the plans and outlooks of the software. Just maybe that at the moment it looks bright for fR. It wasn't like this for a long time, when VRay and Brazil seemed so much ahead. My production work, where I had to use all these tools, has shown, that fR seems a tiny little
bit ahead of its competitors at the moment, as it can take the most geometry and also has the most impressive feature list you can get for the buck - just maybe some of the features still do have their "habits"...
